    Notifications do not work. And yes, I've done troubleshooting. It's also disappointing that this is an downgrade from the more usable Hangouts app. Disappointed.

    Apparently the only way I can use this app is if I put a lock on my phone, and I won't do that, and I have tried to figure out how to turn this setting off to no avail. How do I do that? To update, so I don't have a lock (pin, pattern, etc) on my phone, and I do not want one. My work now uses this app for communication, yet every time I get on the app it says the app will not open unless I have a lock on my phone. So I have to put a PIN number in on settings and I shouldn't have to do this

    I can't create icons on my home screen for specific conversations (a hangout feature I really use a lot), and I don't get a chat head or a notification for new messages despite the settings being set so that those things WILL happen. Also, the notification sound from Hangouts is gone, so now I have to attune to a new sound. It's a mess, it's not as good as Hangouts at least insofar as I use it, and I'm really disappointed.

    Shrug. It's just a replacement for Hangouts, which still exists, so now I get every Message twice. Also, the Google link provided doesn't go to a real page, try again. 😑

    Hangouts was better. Why take features away versus add? Chat offers less and I'm forced to use versus Hangouts. Top two dislikes: 1) Video calling and 2) Phone calling. For video calling, each time I try, some strange "Join video meeting" box pops up, which I guess I click, and wait for the other person to join? If I video call someone, like Hangouts used to be, I simply want to do just that...video call them. No different than FaceTime. For phone calls to actual phone numbers, I simply can't.

    Just installed after getting the warning in Hangouts, already not as good as Hangouts only 30 seconds in. Why am I not able to open an image natively, .jpg, in Google Chat but I can in Hangouts? Google Chat prompts to open in a separate browser. This is not an upgrade to remove features and call it better.

    I'm normally not the type to leave a negative review for anything, but this program is a TERRIBLE replacement for Hangouts, which I have come to rely on to communicate with family.

    No notification at all. No sounds, vibrate, or even notification bubble on my android devices or Apple devices. What was wrong with hangouts? I can't even access this new chat at work. Hangouts was accessible at work. Fix this...

    Status is will not be forever in any app this is correct 1 week max it is better than what's up only 24 hours try out in laptop I tried in that it's is best belive me everyone this is best app for chating with your friends and you are doing job you can use and call.so I have gave 5 star. Whoever are the app owner try we can make vedio status plz only one request.and I saw if your friends are using hangout you can chat in Google chat to by typing there gmail ok.

    Initially it's working fine but past two days it's getting error unable login the app Login failed will come and there was a problem authenticating and check your network connection like that error came I don't know what to do now hangouts working hangouts chat not working
